Description of Site: New York Anxiety Treatment is an independent treatment and training clinic in Manhattan, delivering individual, group, and intensive outpatient treatment for OCD and Anxiety Disorders. We offer two intensive treatment options; a six-week Exposure Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for individuals with OCD and Anxiety Disorders and a three-day Exposure Intensive Bootcamp. Our six-week IOP consists of nine hours of in-person groups, two individual sessions weekly, and one family/friend support session throughout the program. For those who are in therapy or post therapy, we offer OCD support groups and supplementary exposure groups to increase outpatient treatment dose and/or maintain treatment gains and prevent relapse. As a training clinic, our objective is to provide top-notch training in CBT, ERP, and the latest evidence-based treatments.
Description of Fellowship Experience: The psychology postdoctoral fellowship at NYAT provides intensive training in the principles and delivery of exposure and response prevention (ERP) for obsessive-compulsive disorder. Fellows will participate in a three day intensive ERP training at the beginning of their training year. Fellows will provide ERP to individual patients, facilitate ERP groups and treat individuals participating in our intensive outpatient programs. Fellows will conduct psychiatric consultation, identify diagnosis, administer the Y-BOCS, create treatment plans and coordinate care. Fellows may also implement evidence-based interventions with individuals experiencing anxiety disorders, depression and PTSD. In addition to providing clinical care, fellows will participate in weekly group and individual supervision, a weekly IOP meeting, and bimonthly didactics to facilitate intensive training through their own cases and broader exposure to implementing ERP with severe and complex clinical presentations. Through this fellowship, trainees will be able to obtain a comprehensive understanding of a range of OCD presentations, acquire mastery of the principles and techniques of ERP, and become expert ERP therapists. Protected research time is available for fellows with a research track record. Fellows will have office space and a portion of their clinical work may be conducted via telehealth. NYAT is currently operating in a hybrid in person/remote model for both faculty and trainees.
